Eloise to Lorenzo, 1915 Aug 6

Salt Lake, Aug, 6, 1915

My Dear Sweet-heart:

Last Tuesday I received the dearest, sweetest letter from the dearest and best fellow in the world, to me, can you guess who? I certainly did enjoy it very much and I am not telling how many times it has been read.

There are so many things I would like to talk to you about that cannot be said in writting. I am one of the happiest girls in the world and have about decided I am in love with you and when I am very sure you shall be the first one to know it. This is such a serious thing that both should be very sure. Are you? I have decided that “Before you make a promise, consider well its importance and when made engrave it upon your heart.” is a very good thing to always remember.

Not two weeks have passed yet since you were here and yet it seems so long to me, the time passes very slow in some ways and others fast but dearie I am very lovesome for your company.

I also have enjoyed you company always although sometimes perhaps you thot not, the first few times I was out with you I felt like I had known you always, and ever since I was a small girl dearie for a long time. I have heard an imaginary man in my mind and you seem to fill almost every detail, so do not be surprised one of these first days if I tell you that, “I love you.”

Aunt Minnie seems to be getting anxious as I suppose others are also. Have you told your mother yet? I haven’t but am waiting until I go home. Do not know just when I shall go, perhaps next week and maybe not until the next week. What do you wish to tell one?

The last letter Aunt Minnie wrote me was the one I received when you were here the first time. I suppose she is too busy to write.

Every thing is about the same as ususal, the weather is so hot I can hardly stand it and when you have to work all day it is pretty hard, but I suppose I shall get along some way.

Last night Anna, Minnie & I went to the Pantages, the first show since you & I went June 14th not so bad do you think?

Well I hope you are as well as this leaves me, give my kindest regards to your folks also Sister Bateman, I must write her soon. I can hardly find time to write to anyone. I do not have much time in the day and am so tired when night comes.

Be good to yourself and write to me soon as you have time.

Your Sweet heart
Eloise
